The 2.5 development kernel series
has finally launched, and heralds the beginning of yet another
giant step forward for Linux. New features expected include a totally
new block I/O layer, a completely redesigned configuration and
build system, and the removal of legacy code. The initial
2.5.0 release was branched from 2.4.15.
KDE 2.2.2 has been released,
and marks yet another milestone in the efforts of Open Source to
conquer the desktop. The newest revision of this leading desktop
environment features numerous enhancements and bug fixes, and is
expected to be the final 2.x series release.
WU-FTPD, the popular FTP server, has a serious
buffer overrun hole, and should be urgently upgraded - see your distributor's
web site.
glibc 2.2 has a globbing vulnerability, and
most distributors have released patches. Upgrade as soon as possible.
